Gran Carrera del Desierto

In 2023, we were approached by Sabino Producciones to create the trailer for an exciting new trail running event: the Gran Carrera del Desierto. This race unfolds in the vast Gran Desierto de Altar, where participants push their limits across different terrains. Our challenge was to capture its energy and beauty in a compelling trailer, all within a tight 4-day shooting window.

To showcase the race’s unique setting, we filmed across a range of ecosystems—from towering sand dunes and remote desert roads to coastal marshes and pristine beaches along the Sea of Cortez. Each landscape brought a different visual and physical challenge, highlighting the extreme conditions runners would face.

The biggest obstacle, however, was timing. Filming took place in May, at the height of the desert’s heat. With temperatures soaring, we adapted our schedule to make the most of the harsh environment. Adding to the challenge, this was a brand-new race with no existing promotional materials—our trailer and photography would be the event’s first introduction to the world.

Despite these hurdles, we delivered a high-quality trailer and a series of striking images that captured the essence of the Gran Carrera del Desierto. The response was immediate: the first edition of the race saw 300 runners sign up, a testament to the power of compelling visuals. Our work didn’t just showcase a race—it helped bring it to life, turning an ambitious idea into a reality that runners were eager to experience.
