Meet the Cumbre Team

(Co-founder, Director and DP)

José Mario Borda

Founder of Cumbre Studio, Jose Mario wasn’t always the outdoors-obsessed video and media creator that he is today. After getting his Bachelor’s in International Business and realizing that spending all day waiting for the weekend to roll around wasn’t the way to live, he picked up a camera and began recording his weekend trip adventures, and that, as they say, is history. Surrounded by the rugged beauty of the mountains and cliffs of Northeastern Mexico, and inspired by a two-year stint in Lake Tahoe interning for famous photographer Corey Rich, Jose Mario found the will and the vision to return to his beloved home country to continue telling the stories that he believes are worth listening to.

(Co-founder, Director and Lead Editor)

Natalia Chanes

Born and raised on the shores of Ensenada, Baja California, Natalia grew up as an ocean child, running around the Bahía de los Ángeles during her summers, and exploring the unique desert and marine wildlife found there. Natalia brings this love for the great outdoors into her work as our Lead Editor; meticulous and organized down to the last detail when it comes to editing, she likes to unwind under the open sky, especially if there’s adventure and a canine companion to be had.

(Drone Operator)

Rodrigo ‘Ro’ Flores

Our resident Drone operator is a rare breed: a real multi-sport athlete. Every sport he tries out, he excels at. Mountain bikes, slack-lining, high-lining, backflips, you name it, Ro can do it. FPV drones are his current obsession, and he handles them as he does anything else: with enviable precision. In contrast with the intensity that he brings to his crafts, Ro is well known for his kind and sweet nature, the kind of guy you meet and can’t help but immediately like.

(First Assistant Camera)

Sarah Norza

A long-time friend and collaborator based out of Mexico City, Sarah is always our first candidate for the role of AC: a full-fledged camera nerd with a love for mountains. She has climbed Mexico’s highest peaks, and traveled down several times to Ecuador (where she keeps trying to finish filming a documentary). The only things that rival her passion for cameras are her love for coffee and her insatiable need to buy every exotic plants that dares to cross his path.

(Photographer)

Adriana Farías

aka The Vitamin, aka La Vita Farías. So called due to her insatiable energy as a kid, our resident Still Photographer started practicing mountain biking at the tender age of 5, and has gone on to become one of the best female mountain cyclists in the state. A highly capable athlete with a sharp eye, when it comes to photography she doesn’t just point and shoot, she takes her time with her subject, bringing the same brand of careful strategy to her craft as she does to her sport.
