La Ruta Madre Adventure Race

The Ruta Madre Expedition Race is a unique, all-in-one kind of adventure that takes the participants all over the trails, waterfalls and rugged canyons that are a hallmark of this arid corner of the Oriental Sierra Madre. There are three available categories: 50k, 100k, and 250k, and each category faces its own unique set of pathways and challenges. Day and night, the teams toll away, climbing down waterfalls, rolling on their mountain bikes, and walking until their feet can’t take a single step more.

Documenting a multi-day race made up of dozens of different teams running all over the mountain without a GPS (they’re not allowed) was no walk in the park, but watching the determination in their faces shine through even to the last minute, reminded us why we absolutely love what we do.
